“I literally just moved apartments, so I don’t really have much of a set-up right now,” says League artist Guada Cruz (@guad.art). She’s an international student from the Philippines currently enrolled in The Art Students League’s Certificate Program.

“I created a little corner in my apartment with a french easel and a little spotlight set-up, where I can practice sketching from everyday objects like spoons and mugs. You don’t have to think too hard to find subjects.”

Like many of us, Guada has been working to continue her arts practice while balancing school and work during quarantine. “Finding motivation can be hard at the end of the day, but I remind myself that I can’t afford to slack off as an artist. I try to find the beauty in the mundane, and that usually motivates me.”

What motivates YOU to make art? Any tips for fellow artists who struggle with that during quarantine?
